The Power of Movement

Movement is essential to a child's physical, emotional, and cognitive development. Children are designed to move, and when they do, they build stronger bodies, sharper minds, greater confidence, and healthier relationships.

Our movement program is an opportunity for children to discover what they are capable of while developing lifelong healthy habits.

The Mind-Body Connection

Research shows that regular physical activity helps children:

  • Improve focus, attention, and memory

  • Reduce stress and anxiety

  • Build self-confidence and resilience

  • Develop balance, coordination, and motor skills

  • Increase creativity and problem-solving abilities

  • Sleep better and maintain overall physical health

When children move, their brains become more engaged and ready to learn. Active play and structured movement support academic success by helping children regulate their emotions, improve concentration, and increase their ability to absorb new information.

A Variety of Ways to Move

Every child is different, which is why we provide a variety of movement experiences designed to meet children where they are and encourage them to grow. Activities may include:

  • Dance and creative movement

  • Agility and obstacle courses

  • Tumbling and basic gymnastics skills

  • Yoga and stretching

  • Cooperative games and team-building activities

  • Outdoor recreation and active play

  • Fitness challenges that emphasize personal growth rather than competition

Children are encouraged to participate at their own ability level while celebrating progress, perseverance, and effort.

Movement Through Our Partnership with Santiam Ballet Academy

Through our partnership with Santiam Ballet Academy, children have the opportunity to experience high-quality dance instruction as part of our movement programming. Dance develops strength, flexibility, coordination, musicality, discipline, and self-expression while providing a creative outlet that builds confidence and character.

Whether a child is stepping into a dance class for the first time or simply discovering the joy of movement through games and activities, our goal is the same—to help every child develop a lifelong appreciation for an active, healthy lifestyle.

Growing the Whole Child

Movement is one of the foundations of our mission to nurture the whole child. By combining physical activity with creativity, education, and meaningful relationships, we create an environment where children can move with confidence, learn with purpose, and grow into healthy, capable young people.
